Our Story

Our story starts with a conversation between myself and Anton Bantock (University of Withywood).  We've spoken for years about art and how its viewed in Hartcliffe and Withywood.  The two estates experience of art hasn't always been the best.

Art when I was in school was viewed as a subject you took to fill a gap.  Personally I loved it and still do.

The aim of starting a trail was to show off the talents in the Dundry View area, to show off the good parts of where I live.

I was lucky enough to secure some money last year and so our first art trail took place in June 2011.  To my amasement, The Withywood Centre, Bishport Scouts Hut and Withywood University were full to capacity with local talent.  Photographs, jewellery, models, cross-stitch, pencil drawings, watercolour paintings, felt pen pictures and more were to be put on display for all to see.

The hard work was to come next.  On the day there was a buzz of excitement and nerves, no one really knew how it was going to go or even if people would like what they saw.  Selling something was going to be an added bonus.

The feedback from the 50 or so people that came through the door of the venues was brilliant.

"Terrific lots of really good stuff"   Marie and Jo

"What a great idea I hope it grows and grows" Anne

"Fabulous Fun! Really enjoyed being part of the community and performing for our lovely neighbours" Kookey Ukes

"Formidable"  Roni

"Very impressed"  Marcus

"Out Standing"   Terry, Liam, Ellie

The day finished with people asking to be involved in next years trail.

Here we are again in 2012 and after managing to secure some funding the planning starts all over again.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 28th July 2012.
